A minor girl who had been trafficked to New Delhi by a broker and engaged as a domestic help and tortured was handed over a fixed deposit amount of Rs 50,000 by the CWC, Sundargarh, on Saturday.
The CWC, New Delhi had summoned the house owner, where the minor girl was working and a direction was given to hand over Rs 50,000 in the name of the girl in form of fixed deposit. Accordingly, after receipt of the FD from the house owner, the same was handed over to her by the members of CWC officials.
Sources said the 17-year-old girl from Hatibari gram panchayat area under the Biramitrapur police station had been lured by a broker with offer of a good placement at New Delhi and had left her house in May 2015. She was reportedly engaged in a house in New Delhi by a local agency but not paid her dues.
After working without salary for about eight/nine months, she could inform her plight to her family members through phone, following which a complaint was lodged in Hatibari police station.
She was finally recovered during May 2016. The CWC Sundargarh had taken the support of CWC New Delhi and after summoning the house owner, the CWC Sundargarh and CWC New Delhi had jointly ordered the house owner to pay an amount of Rs 50,000 as fixed deposit in one commercial bank, in the name of the minor girl.
