State Govt announces Rs 1000 cr startup corpus

Thursday, 31 August 2017 | PNS | Lucknow

Aiming to ensure livelihood to the youth, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath kicked off `Startup Bus Yatra’ under the aegis of his government’s `Rozgar bhi, swarozgar bhi’ initiative on Wednesday. The state government has set up a corpus of Rs 1000 crore to facilitate self-employment in UP.

“My government is fully committed to providing means of livelihood to everyone, be it through employment or self-employment. Hence we created a fund of 1000 crore for startup schemes to facilitate self-employment for the youth,” asserted Yogi after kicking off the Yatra from Scientific Convention Centre of KGMU in lucknow.

``We are not looking into religion or caste of anyone but working for the welfare of the poor, women, farmers, unemployed etc,” he claimed.

Addressing media persons in lUkcnow on Wednesday, Yogi  said that his government will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) on September 15 to further bolster the start-up campaign.

“Earlier government policies were drafted to ensure vote bank politics. Since my government has taken over, we are working for everyone’s welfare and not appeasement,”he stressed.

Highlighting that UP had enormous potential for industrial development, the ChiefMinister said that with this initiative, his government will achieve the concept of ``Ek bharat, shreshth bharat’.

Highlighting the importance of both Start-up and Stand-up India, Yogi claimed that once UP gives a boost to these schemes, not just the state but the entire country would witness a new era of development.

The CM also targeted the media for criticising his government. Referring to publising of news items about garbage being stacked every where, Yogi questioned whether this was just the duty of the government to ensure cleaniness.

``It is possible that some day people will leave their infant kids claiming that it was the government’s responsibility to ensure their upbringing,” he said indirectly attacking the media for criticising the government for the deaths of children in BRD Medical College Gorakhpur.

“It is important how the garbag was managed and how the government used the filth and avoid pollution at the same time. Now the state government is using garbage to construct roads,” said Yogi.

The CM informed that his government has started a website for Start-up projects and a call centre has been set up to address issues concerning the initiative.

“We are also going to start a dedicated mobile application for Start-ups where one would find solutions to all problems,” Yogi said. He also revealed that Rs 25 lakh will be given to universities and leading educational institutions to encourage

students to take up self-employment through Start-ups.

Earlier on Tuesday, during inauguration of the first ‘Rozgar Summit’, Yogi had claimed to create 70 lakh new jobs in the next five years through government schemes. He also said that ‘One district, one product’ scheme will be boosted to create job opportunities.

The government has linked agriculture with employment and identified certain districts for their unique products so that they could be promoted globally. The ‘Startup Yatra’ will conclude in lucknow on October 10.
