A female faculty member of GB Pant Engineering College Ghurdaudi, Pauri has accused a woman who is sister of one of a research scholar of the college of threatening her. Addressing newsmen on Wednesday, the Associate Professor of the college, Preeti Dimri, said one Savitri Verma, who is sister of a research scholar Jitendra Sehgal, is repeatedly threatening her.
Dimri said she was the guide of Sehgal on a research project but due to behavioural and other issues, she requested the university to change his guide. Her request was accepted and the guide of Sehgal was changed. It is alleged that the sister of Sehgal took offence to it and threatened Dimri.
She added on September 20, 2016, Verma called her but she did not picked the phone, Verma sent her a threatening text in WhatsApp. Terrified by the threat Dimri informed the police and district magistrates of Pauri and Dehradun.
“This woman later filed many RTI applications and tried to question on my qualification. She is trying to put pressure on me so that I am deviated from my task of teaching. She even misled the media to malign my image,” she added.
The Associated Professor said she received many complaints about Sehgal from other students when he was doing research under her. On these complaints a departmental meeting of the college was convened on April 2, 2016, in which Sehgal was warned to mend his ways. Dimri said despite all this she gave a satisfactory report for Sehgal in the student research committee report. The guide of Sehgal was changed later which enraged his sister and she is now using the platform of RTI to put pressure, she said.
Dimri is Associate Professor in MCA Department of the college from the year 2010. She was also head of department till February 2017. She has supervised many PhD students in her career.
