A series of short plays were staged here on Thursday at Swaraj Bhavan. A cultural event was organised by Kala Mandir wherein two short plays and a prose recitation was held.
The short plays ‘Hum Nahi Sudhrenge’ and ‘Patni Puran’ were performed brilliantly at Swaraj Bhavan hall. The plays were comedy and made the audience laugh their hearts out. The situational comedy in each play tickled the ribs of the audience.
The rib-tickling comedy was performed by the artists of Rang Samooh theatre troupe, Bhopal. Besides, both the short plays Huma Nahin Sudhrenge and Patni Puran were directed by Ashok Bulani.Picked up from the real life instances and keeping life as the subject the short plays were performed. The play Hum Nahin Sudhrenge is written by Suman Oberoi and deals with the daily issues of an individual. It narrates the tale of that section of Indians who do not want to change, but demand a change.
The story surrounds a lady professor who takes up the initiative to beautify the college campus. She along with other take the step, but there are people who ar ein favour of the change but do not give their support. Instead of cleaning the campus they throw grbage there, spit and more.
But later, the professor makes them realize their mistake and aske them to improve themselves.
Another play Patni Puran was a sarcastic way of depicting the relationship between a husband and a wife. The play showcases the life of a man who chants ‘Jai Patni Rani’ in devotion of her wife.
According to the play, the first few years of marriage are full of romance and understanding, but as the relationship gets older, the feelings fade away.
With a spicy pinch of comedy, sarcasm and wit both the plays impressed the audience to the fullest.
