Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal on Saturday said that under the Swarna Jayanti Mahagram Vikas Yojana, sewerage systems would be developed in 126 villages with population of 10,000 and above each, at a cost of Rs 10 crore to Rs 15 crore, and 100 litres of drinking water would be provided per person in the State. Besides, schools and hospitals would be set up in such villages, said the Chief Minister while speaking at a public meeting in Mokhra village of Rohtak district.
He said the State Government is making efforts to ensure that water was supplied to Haryana through the Sutlej-Yamuna link (SYl) Canal, for which the Supreme Court had already delivered its verdict. “We have filed an appeal in the Supreme Court for releasing water in the Hansi-Butana Canal,” he added.
Urging the people to pay their electricity bills regularly and on time, he said the surcharge and penalty would be waived for those consumers who pay their outstanding bills by May 31, 2017.
Consumers also have the option to make their payments in six instalments. Under the ‘Mhara Gaon-Jagmag Gaon’ scheme, 24-hour power supply is provided to feeders where all consumers clear their dues and make timely payments, he said.
The Chief Minister also urged the families to apply for cooking gas connections by contacting District Food and Supplies Controller or nearest gas agency at the earliest. He announced that such families would be provided cooking gas, stove and cylinder at subsidised rates within one month.
Manohar lal said that various schemes are being implemented to improve the standard of education, generate employment opportunities through investment, enable youth to hone their skills and provide amenities to villages through infrastructure development.
