The State Education Department has warned that disciplinary action would be initiated against those heads of schools who fail in ensure that Aadhar cards of all the students of their schools are made. The Aadhar cards of all the students should be made till August 31, 2017.
In a letter directed to all Chief Education Officers (CEOs) of the State, the Director General (DG) School Education, Captain Alok Shekhar Tiwari has said that the Right to Education Act 2000 and Aadhar Act 2016 mandate that Aadhar cards of all the students of the government, aided, private and madarsa schools should be made. The Aadhar numbers of the students would be linked with the various schemes of the government. The Union Government has threatened that it would stop providing funds under various schemes if the Aadhar numbers of the students are not linked. The Mid Day Meal (MDM) scheme and the refund of fees to the poor students getting education under the RTE scheme are bound to be affected as the Union Government would transfer funds of only those students that are Aadhar linked.
In his letter the DG has directed the CEO to prepare a micro-plan for making Aadhar cards of the students. He said that that the plan should be made in consultation with the district administration and the Aadhar card making agencies. The DG has threatened that severe disciplinary action would be initiated against the school head if it is found that Aadhar cards of all the students of his school is not made by August 31.
