The Urban Development Minister Madan Kaushik has set a deadline of seven days for the officials to remove all obstacles causing hindrance in smooth traffic flow on ISBT- Clock tower route. The Minister curtly told the officers that all hindrances should be removed before his proposed inspection of the road on May 7. He gave these orders while undertaking a meeting of the officers of traffic, anti- encroachment department, power and Jal Sansthan at his office at Vidhan Sabha on Saturday. Kaushik said that all road junctions i.e. Shimla bypass, Niranjanpur mandi, Saharanpur Chowk, Railway station, Prince Chowk, Tehsil Chowk, Darshanlal Chowk should be beautified with shifting of electric poles, making the left turn free, ensuring proper parking in 30 shopping complexes before the deadline. The minister said that the funds would be not a problem for the work.
In another important order the Minister asked the officials to ensure that the weekly closure of Niranjanpur Mandi is observed on Monday instead of Sunday.
This step is being taken to ease the traffic load on Monday. He also asked the officers to set up four vending zones for vendors on the ISBT - Clock tower road. The administration has earmarked 400 vendors on the route.
He also asked the MDDA construct 13 taxi stands, earmarked by RTO.
The meeting was attended by DM of Dehradun Ravi Nath Raman, Haridwar DM S Murugehan, Vice President of MDDA V Shanamugam, SSP Sweety Agarwal and others.
