Rains lashed several parts of Punjab and Haryana on Sunday even as the maximum temperature at most places in both states hovered close to the normal limits.
Chandigarh, the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana received moderate rainfall in the evening and recorded maximum temperature at 33.5 degree Celsius. According to the Met Department, rains also lashed neighbouring towns including Mohali in Punjab and Panchkula in Haryana.
Haryana’s Hissar settled at maximum temperature of 35.1 degree Celsius, one degree below normal while Ambala recorded 34.2 degree Celsius.
Punjab’s holy city, Amritsar recorded maximum temperature at 34.8 degree Celsius. Both ludhiana and Patiala recorded maximum temperatures of 34.7 degree Celsius each.
The minimum temperature recorded in Chandigarh was 28.5 degrees, Hisar settled at 25.5 degree Celsius, Karnal at 26.8 degrees, Patiala 27.6 degree Celsius, ludhiana 27.3 degrees and Amritsar recorded 28.1 degrees.
According to the Met Department forecast, light to moderate rainfall is likely at many places during next 24 hours in Haryana and Punjab
The city and several parts of the two states had witnessed scanty rains after the arrival of monsoon this month and sultry weather conditions had prevailed.
