The Commonwealth Games 2018 queen’s baton relay will also be arriving at Haridwar among other places in Uttarakhand in the coming month. The Haridwar district magistrate Deepak Rawat said that the queen’s baton relay will be a special occasion.
Regarding the preparations for the arrival of the relay, the district magistrate held a meeting with the officials concerned of the sports department, police and district administration. He issued necessary instructions to the departmental officials for receiving the commonwealth games queen’s baton relay arriving in Haridwar on October 6.
Rawat discussed aspects of the traffic plan, security and other issues with officials for the journey of the baton relay after it arrives at Har ki Paidi in Haridwar from Rishikesh. The queen’s baton relay will be accorded a welcome at Har ki Paidi from where it will proceed via the road to Nehru Yuva Kendra where the function will conclude.
The district magistrate also ascertained the details of reception programme at Har ki Paidi which will also have the cabinet minister and Haridwar MlA Madan Kaushik along with all local public representatives and Ganga Sabha office bearers. Officials were also directed to ensure arrangements for ambulance, sanitation, drinking water and other aspects during the relay.
