Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission on Thursday set 15-day deadline for the state Welfare Department to furnish report on the complaints regarding fake SC certificates
The panel has also asked the state police authorities to furnish monthly report on the cases of atrocity against Dalits in the state.
The directions were issued by the Commission chairman Rajesh Bagha, after a high level meeting with various departmental heads. Multiple issues related to the SC community were considered in the meeting, said Bagha.
Bagha said that the police department has also been directed, as per the amendment in the Atrocities Act, to display boards at public places, police stations and government offices, depicting information about the commission in order to ensure easy reach of SC community to the commission, in case of need.
