Police still clueless about missing seer Mahant Mohandas

Fifteen days having passed since the national spokesperson of Akhil Bhartiya Akhada Parishad Mohandas disappeared from a moving train,  clueless police are still stumbling  in the  dark. The seer had gone missing while heading for Mumbai for his medical check- up on September 15.

With tension mounting among the seers, the stream of the VIPs visiting the akhada is continuing. After the Chief Minister, State Tourism Minister and Urban Development Minister, it was the turn of the ADG law and order Ashok Kumar to come and talk to the  anguished seers. He reached the Bada Udaseen Akhada in the morning on Friday and talked to the  seers present for about  45 minutes.

He later said that police were investigating the case from all angles, including that of his voluntary withdrawal. “We are considering whether he was abducted or whether he has voluntarily withdrawan himself into seclusion.   All the possibilities are being explored with  some senior officials being entrusted with the task of tracing him out.  The probe team is moving around the country in his search. We hope that some breakthrough would come about soon,” he added. 

Earlier, state urban development minister Madan Kaushik came to the akhada. The Minister and ADG law and order spoke to the seers together for around a quarter of an hour. Kaushik said, “The State Government is standing solidly behind the saints. A special investigation team is probing the case. We are waiting for a breakthrough. All possibilities are being explored seriously,” he said.  

However, a seer of Bada Akhada Raghuvir Muni said that the VIP visits mean nothing to them unless they inform the seers about the present whereabouts of the missing seer. “They are coming in a row and giving us hope. But these are  proving false hopes,” he added.

A police insider said that they are working on the revenge angle as the same Das recently released the list of 14 fake sadhus  on behalf of the akhada council. “Besides, some  akhadas wallowing in huge property, we are not ruling out the property angle too,” he said.
