On the Saturday night a team of Hazaribagh police made a massive raid on the godowns of illegal slaughter houses and rescued 33 cows from there. All rescued cows have been sent to Pinjrapol cow shelter.
Police have lodged FIR in Sadar police station in which eight persons have been made named accused. SP Hazaribagh Anup Birthare informed about this massive crackdown against the illegal slaughterhouses in a Press meet held on Sunday evening.
“We have received the information that some of the owners of illegal slaughter houses have kept the cows in the godowns for the purpose of butchering. A team comprising of officer in charge of Sadar police station, Bara bazar TOP and ten officers along with 30 police personnel were formed to raid on the suspected places. The raid was started at 11pm on Saturday night which prolonged till the morning of Sunday,” said the SP.
The team recovered the cows from Quraishi mohalla and Chistiya mohalla of the town. Thirteen cows were recovered from the godown situated in Quraishi mohalla and 20 from the godown of Chistiya mohalla. The SP did not disclose the names of the accused persons. He said that a case has been registered in the Sadar police station.
last month, the police had sealed 22 illegal slaughterhouses running in the town area of Hazaribagh and had sealed the shops but butchering of cows was going on.
When several such complaints reached to the police officials of Hazaribagh then they started gathering information about the places where this illegal activity was going on.
The SP said that this process of raids on illegal slaughterhouses will continue as police administration is not going to tolerate such type of actions in and around the town area.
