Vinay Gusain, a Sub Inspector (SI) posted in Vikasnagar, died in a road accident in Sahaspur on late Friday night.
It is learnt that he was going to Herbertpur for some work when near Asan Bridge in Fatehpur, the handle of his bike struck a stationery truck. The impact of the collision was such that Gusain fell on the road divider.
The Station House Officer (SHO) of Sahaspur police station, Mukesh Tyagi said that the critically injured SI was rushed to lehman hospital, Vikasnagar.
In view of his critical condition the doctors referred the SI to higher centre. He was then admitted to Synergy hospital, Dehradun where he succumbed to his head injuries on Saturday morning.
A native of Kotdwar town of Pauri Garhwal district, Gusain joined state police service in the year 2001. In the year 2011 he was promoted to the rank of Sub Inspector. The news of death of young police officer shocked the police department. On hearing about his death large number of people thronged his residence in Kotdwar and offered their condolences to the grieving family.
