To improve police services and make it more people-friendly, Haryana Government has decided to set up ‘Police Mitra Kaksh’, initially on pilot basis in districts of Rohtak and Karnal, in next six months.
If successful, the project would be implemented at police headquarters in all districts of the State and would cost an estimated expenditure of about Rs 50 crore.
Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar reviwed the functioning of Police Department and was apprized about the ‘Police Mitra Kaksh’ initiative.
It was informed that the ‘Police Mitra Kaksh’ would remain functional round-the-clock and would facilitate the people in lodging their complaints. Community liaisoning Groups would also be constituted for implementation of this project.
There are more than 300 police stations in the State where ‘Police Mitra Kaksh’ would be established and each Kaksh would have modern building costing about Rs 15 lakh.
The Chief Minister was also informed that country’s most modern centralised police control room would start functioning from Panchkula in about one year. To be set up over 2.6 acres, the centralised police control room would take calls from all over the state on ‘Haryana 100-Police Emergency Response System’ and police would promptly take action on the complaints received.
The calls being received on Haryana 100 would be transferred to the dispatcher who would direct these to dedicated police van which would immediately rush to the spot of the happening. Under Haryana 100, dedicated vehicles would be allotted to police personnel and a call centre would be established. It would also receive calls for various services such as fire, ambulance, women helpline and intelligence inputs, and despatch these to the service concerned.
For making Haryana 100 functional, about 600 vehicles would be purchased besides other software and hardware. A dedicated IPS officer would be appointed who alone would be responsible for managing the project.
