On the directions of the Nainital Senior Superintendent of Police Janmejay Khanduri, the police conducted a special verification campaign in various parts of Nainital on Sunday. As part of this campaign the identities of a total 277 people including migrants from outside Nainital were verified by the police. The police conducted the verification campaign in Nainital, Bhawali, Bhimtal, Mukteshwar and Betalghat. The police also covered 60 hotels and eateries in the drive also verifying the identities of persons employed in six shops.
In the Mallital Kotwali area, two police teams conducted the verification campaign in the Sukhatal, Bazaar area, Pant Park and the parking area. The identities of about 50 persons living on rent and six roadside vendors were verified by the police in these areas. In Tallital, the police station in charge Pramod Pathak directed teams lead by sub inspectors Revti Pant and Keshav lal who conducted the verification campaign in Harinagar, Dhobighat and other areas. The identities of about 50 persons living in rented accommodation were verified by the police. The Jyolikot police post in charge Manvar Singh led the verification campaign from Jyolikot Bazaar to Bhujiyaghat. As part of this, the identities of 21 persons were verified and three hotels/dhabas were penalised with the police collecting Rs 750 each as accommodation fee. Similarly in Bhawali, the identities of 64 persons from outside town were verified by the police who also collected Rs 5,000 in accommodation fee. In the Bhimtal area, the police covered 40 hotels, eateries and verified the identities of 75 persons from other places living here. In Mukteshwar, the police verified identities of persons working in 17 hotels and eateries along with the migrants living in the area. In the Betalghat area, the police verified the identities of five migrants. Providing details of the special verification campaign conducted by the police, the Nainital Additional Superintendent of Police Harish Chandra Sati said that the verification campaign will also be continued in the coming days.
