Police arrest former minister Tripathy

Sunday, 30 April 2017 | PNS | DALTONGANJ

Former Minister KN Tripathy and scores of his supporters were arrested here in Daltonganj on Saturday on charges of violation of the magistrate’s order. Tripathy was holding a protest march focusing on the “miseries of the jobless youths here who are made to suffer for a faulty employment policy affecting Palamu district.”

Sadar SDO Nancy Sahay said Tripathy and his men were ordered not to negotiate Chhoumuhan and Kutchhery road for their procession but they did not care a fig for it and so were arrested under section 181 and 151 of CrPC.

KN Tripathy cried biased action against him and said that his march was for common people with focus on the abnormal rise in holding taxes and khas mahal renewal of lease problem but the police acted high-handedly and took them to camp jail.

Sahay said the arrested Tripathy and his supporters were taken down to Parwa police station about 18 Kms away from Daltonganj, where a detention camp has been set up.
