Reports of irregularities have come to the fore in the implementation of housing scheme for rural poor under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in Dunguripali block.
While the Centre has introduced the scheme to provide housing for all poor people by 2022, there are allegations that numerous undeserving persons
have availed the benefits in the block.
Sources said a widow woman Udia Bhue of Kudeipada of the block, who is a deserving one to get PMAY house, is deprived of it and staying in a ramshackle house.
“I didn’t get a PMAY house as I did not have a land,” she said. However, on the contrary, many undeserving people of the block have got PMAY facility by fraud. It is alleged that some people of Majhimunda, Sialbahali, and Digsira gram panchayats have got two PMAY houses each.
Similarly several poor villagers in Tamamura, Badphatamunda, Kutsira, Sahala, Sunapali and Sargul areas are yet to get the benefits under the scheme.
It is alleged that those who pay bribe and are supporters of the ruling BJD are getting houses under the scheme and that Rs 10,000- Rs 20,000 are collected from beneficiaries as bribe for sanctioning each rural house in the block.
Sources said, in 2016-17, about 2,100 PMAY (Gramin) houses were distributed of which 45 had been completed till today. Similarly, 21 houses under the Biju Puccha Ghar had been completed out of 242.
