A play defining the humanitarian concept was staged on Thursday at Shaheed Bhavan Auditorium. Based on the three short stories by Jaishankar Prasad the play ‘Tridhara’ was prepared during a special workshop conducted at Madhya Pradesh School of Drama (MPSD).
Directed by a renowned playwright and former director of National School of Drama (NSD) New Delhi, Devendra Raj Ankur, the play was beautifully performed by the students of MPSD. It is to be noted that Devendra Raj Ankur is one of the finest playwrights of the country and has usually done plays on novels and stories.
One of the specialties of Devendra Raj Ankur is that he never improvises the original concept of the story. Touching the perceptions of the writer as they are, he always keeps the original line as it is and brings out the best in his plays. Devendra Raj Ankur, moreover tries to highlight the message in the stories by the authors and that’s what brings the magic in his narration on stage.
Tridhara was a collage of three stories ‘Indrajaal’, ‘Swarg Ke Khandar’ and ‘Akashdeep’. All the three stories are based on the life of people in society. Indrajaal deals with the conversation between three men. They try and weave a colourful web to win the love of a woman. They try their best and by hook or by crook they want to win her love.
Swarg Ke Khandar is a story of Meena. Everybody has a right of freedom, but when this right is attacked by outer forces nothing seems to benefit the individual. The entire story is based on the struggle for freedom and love. Akashdeep is yet another story of love and needs.
The play was brilliantly performed. The lighting design in each story added a zest in the performance. It was a heartwarming performance by the MPSD students.
