Wonkwang University based in South Korea and University of Patanjali would work together in the realms of Yoga and traditional medicine after a memorandum of understanding was signed between the heads of the two universities in Haridwar on Friday.
Earlier in the day, a delegation from Wonkwang University visited Patanjali University based in Haridwar. It was followed by both sides reaching an agreement to work together. The memorandum was inked by the chancellors of both the universities. As per it, study centres would be set up in both the countries to help the students of both to study the cultures of each other.
While the Korean students would visit India the Indian students would visit South Korea and there would be exchange of knowledge about Yoga, traditional medicine, naturpathy, culture, history, food therapy and the like. Wonkwang Digital University — that was founded in 1946 — is one of the few institutions following Won Buddhism.
After the agreement was signed the vice-chancellor of University of Patanjali, Acharya Balkrishna said that both the universities would have their study centres in the two countries where the students would get acquanited with new things happening in the realm of Yoga and traditional medicine. “While India is known for ‘Prachya Vidya’ Wonkwang is advanced in technological science. The union would help in spreading Indian culture and science of yoga across the world.”
Professor Mun Namgung of Korean university said that he was hopeful that the new relationship between the two universities would facilitate exchange of culture and ideas between the two countries.
