District Panchayats, Janpad Panchayats and Gram Panchayats will be awarded for best works carried out during 2016-17 by the Ministry for Rural Development, Government of India. Awards like Deendayal Upadhyaya, Panchayat Sashaktikaran Puraskar, Nanaji Deshmukh, Rashtriya Gourav Gram Sabha Puraskar will be presented and also best works under the Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee scheme will be awarded. Online nomination from District Panchayats, Janpad Panchayats and Gram Panchayats will be received till September 20, 2017 for these awards.
Questionnaire, procedure and other information regarding online information can be downloaded from the website link http://panchayataward.gov.in of Ministry of Panchayati Raj. User name and password will remain the same as provided by the NIC earlier.
Under the Deendayal Upadhyaya Puraskar, one third awards will be given based mainly on 9 subjects like sanitation, civil services (potable water, street light, basic infrastructure), utilization of natural resources, service marginalized (women, scheduled tribe/scheduled caste, disabled persons, senior citizen), provision for availability of social services, disaster management, CBO’s Individuals taking Voluntary Actions to Support Gram Panchayats, efforts to increase source of income by panchayats and services provided by gram panchayats based on e-governance. Nanaji Deshmukh Rashtriya Gourav Gram Sabha Puraskar will be given to gram panchayats for special participation of gram sabhas in the field of socio-economic development. Similarly, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Scheme award will be awarded for best work carried out under MNREGA.
