Senior BJP leader and sitting MP of Ranchi Ram Tahal Chaudhary today flayed the Government’s decision of selling liquor on its own. Chaudhary said that the decision will ruin the youth of the State and make daughters and sisters widows.
Speaking to The Pioneer after a public gathering near Ranchi, Chuadhary said that, on the one hand, Prime Minister Modi has been taking sincere efforts to brighten lives of youths of the country through various schemes and, on the other hand, the State government led by CM Raghubar Das was taking such disastrous decision.
“Everyone knows that Jharkhand is the worst sufferer of the menace of alcoholism. Thousands of women have become widows and children became orphan due to this evil. Other states like Gujarat and Bihar that have banned alcohol are now prospering. They have able workforce in the form of skilled youths. How can the government take such an insensible decisionIJ I am all against it,” said Chaudhary.
“I have written to CM Raghubar Das for total ban on alcohol in the State the day the decision was taken in the Cabinet. He has to take a firm step. You cannot always think of money. The government has some social responsibilities too,” said the MP.
Notably, the government has recently attracted criticism from its own Ministers and several leaders from the party after it decided to sell liquor on its own. Three ministers of the government had opposed the proposal in the Cabinet meeting held on February 21.
