Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal on Thursday announced that a medical college named after Mata Sheetla Devi, would soon be constructed in Gurugram.
The Municipal Corporation (MC) Gurugram, Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), and Mata Sheetla Devi Shrine Board have been entrusted with the task of getting the college constructed, said Manohar lal while speaking at ‘Harit Gurugram-Ek Prayas 2017 Programme’ organised in Gurugram.
On the occasion, he planted saplings in Saraswati Kunj in Sector 53 kicking off the drive by the ‘Jalvayu Sanrakshan Samiti’ to plant 10 lakh saplings. He also laid the foundation stone of six development projects costing about Rs15 crore.
The Chief Minister said the State Government had started schemes namely ‘Har Ghar Hariyali’ and ‘Har Gaon Ped Ki Chhaon’ and urged the people to plant saplings in schools, along the roads, on agricultural fields, in forests, parks and other vacant places. The plantation drive can be successful only with whole-hearted cooperation of the people, he said.
The ‘Chandra Shekhar Smriti Van’ is being developed in Bhondsi.
Industrial houses have been asked to contribute to the plantation drives under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The Haryana Urban Development Authority, Gurugram MC and other institutions should also contribute to making this campaign a success, he added.
Describing Gurugram as the industrial and economic city of the State, the Chief Minister said the State Government would leave no stone unturned in ensuring its development.
This icon city has made vital contribution not only to the State, but also to the country, he said.
He said that with a view to solving the problem of traffic jam in Gurugram during the rainy season, Badshahpur drain is being further widened by 10 metres and the houses along the drain have been shifted after giving compensation to the owners.
Apart from this, underpasses and flyovers are being constructed at different places to ensure smooth flow of traffic, said the Chief Minister.
Giving assurance that the demands made by MlA Umesh Aggarwal would be fulfilled, Manohar lal said, a suitable place would soon be identified for the proposed medical college in Gurugram.
While 40 per cent each of the total cost of the college would be borne by the Gurugram MC and GMDA, the remaining 20 per cent of the cost would be borne by Mata Sheetla Devi Shrine Board, he said.
