Nainital additional district magistrate and deputy district election officer Jaswant Singh Rathore died of cardiac arrest at his official residence early on Monday morning. He was aged 47 years. He is survived by his wife, one daughter and two sons. His wife, a school teacher, was in Baheri in Uttar Pradesh when the ADM expired.
While condoling his untimely death, Uttarakhand chief secretary S Ramaswami said the Kumaon commissioner D Senthil Pandian and the district magistrate Deepak Rawat would be present during the last rites of the departed officer on his behalf.
Hailing from Haridwar, he was known as an experienced, efficient and soft- spoken administrator, said his colleagues. He assumed charge of additional DM in Nainital district about three months ago.
Earlier, he was the sub-divisional magistrate at Tanakpur in Champawat district.
Kumaon commissioner D Senthil Pandian also expressed his grief over the premature death of Rathore.
The Nainital district magistrate Deepak Rawat in his condolence message described the departed as an honest and upright officer.
Other district officers, including Nainital senior superintendent of police Janmejay Khanduri, CDO Prakash Chandra, ADM (finance) Bl Firmal and additional superintendents of police- Yashwant Singh Chauhan and Harish Chandra Sati, condoled the death of the ADM Nainital.
