Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commissions (MPHRC) expressing concern over the problems of differently abled students told the Board of Secondary Education to pay special attention in providing the facilities provided to them by the Government during examinations.
The Commission expressed concern over differently abled children not getting the facilities provided to them by the Government. Attributing a similar case the Commission in a letter to Board of Secondary Education told to maintain list of such differently abled students who require writer and extra time during the examination.
Omkar Pal resident of village Shyampura in Rama development block of Jhabua district informed the Commission that in 2013 he requested the board that being differently abled I am not able to write hence as per the provisions of the government arrangements to provide him writer should be made but the examination centre superintendent did not provided me the writer. I am appearing in tenth board examination continuously since 2015 but due to non availability of writer and extra time I am not able to clear the examination.
The Commission considered this very serious that despite the rules that the differently abled students be provided writer and extra time one such student is not able to get education and considered this a violation of right of equality and stated that the issue need serious consideration.
The Commission is of the view that to resolve this serious problem of differently abled students it is necessary that every district and the Board of Secondary Education should keep the information that how many such students would appear in the examination who need writer and extra time.
The Commission told the Board of Secondary Education to consider the points raised in case of Omkar Pal and give serious considerations over them so that in the 2017 examinations facilities of writer and extra time could be provided to differently abled students.
