Madhya Pradesh Police would organize 17th All India Police Water Sports Competition in the state capital from December 5 to 9 for the fourth time said Additional Director General of Police Sl Thaosen Chairman of the organising committee while speaking with the media persons on Wednesday.
He said that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan would inaugurate the competition at the Boat Club here on December 5, 2017.
All arrangements for the players have been made and anti-doping test would be done. State capital which is called nursery of Hockey it has emerged as nursery of water sports.
The competition would be organised by the New Delhi-based All India Sports Control Board and the state police would host the event.
As many as 435 participants from 21 states, union territories and Central Armed Police Force are expected to take part in the tournament and contest for 180 medals, 60 each for gold, silver and bronze each across 26 competitions in canoeing, kayaking and rowing sports.
From the state 10 players would participate in the competition. For the first time in the history of police water sports competition boats made of carbon fiber would be used for the competition.
Replying to query on not claiming any in the last police water sports competition ADG Thaosen said that it is a matter of concern and would work on it. The reason could be seen as the obligations of duty of the players which hampers their performance.
Players who have performed their best at the state and national level would be recruited and this recruitment would be done in an accelerated manner.
