Showcasing an impressive performance at Senior National Karate Championship 2017, the players of Madhya Pradesh Karate Academy emerged as the overall champions.
This is 12th consecutive year when the players of Madhya Pradesh Karate Academy bagged the title of overall champion at the national karate championship. The players from Madhya Pradesh bagged seven gold medals and three bronze medals this year.
It is to be noted that the Senior National Karate Championship was played at Goa on February 25 and 26. Interestingly, it was a huge championship with 800 participants from across 41 States of the country. While expressing deep contentment over the success of players from Madhya Pradesh, Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare department Yashodhara Raje Scindia congratulated the players. Director of Sports and Youth Welfare said that the players should bring similar success to State in future as well.
In the national championship player from Madhya Pradesh Supriya Jatav bagged the gold medal under 50-55 kilogram category. She defeated player from Tamil Nadu.
Similarly, under 45 kilogram category Aparna Chauhan won the gold medal by defeating Maharashtra. Under female category (team competition) players Vanshika Tanwar, Aparna Chauhan and Ankita Sharma bagged the gold medal. Under male category (team competition) players Palash Samadhiya, Ajay Yadav and Rahul Shukla won the gold medal. In male category (individual competition), player Palash Samadhiya won the bronze medal. Player Majid Khan and Shivani Karale won bronze medals each under 50-55 kilogram category. Te players from Jabalpur and Balaghat won three gold medals.
