Tuesday, 28 February 2017 | PNS | BRAHMAPUR

The Group D employees of the MKCG Medical College Hospital, under the banner of the Odisha Medical Workers’ Union, on Monday embarked on a three-day stir for fulfilment of their eight-point charter of demands.

The agitators’ demands include reinstatement of 63 employees who were retrenched after working for 15 to 10 years. The union said while there are vacancies of 270 Group D posts in MKCG Hospital, the State Government instead filling up these posts, has issued advertisements to recruit 115 contractual workers. The advertisement should be immediately cancelled, they demanded.

Equipments and accessories for the newly set up departments should be immediately purchased, the vacant nurse, doctors posts should be filled up and construction of new residential quarters for the Group D employees are among the major demands of the union, said union State vice president Sukant Mukhi. Among others, Union advisor Rabi Rath, secretary lalu Mohan Patro, and loknath Mandia were present.
