A poor Odia youth of Sundargarh, who had gone to Goa along with his elder brother to earn livelihood about two years ago, died recently there after drowning in sea while he was in his duty.
The elder brother carrying the body of his younger brother reached at his village on Tuesday night which was buried on Wednesday.
Sources said Ramsio Rana and his wife Phulmani of Pitingpada village under Balishankara block have four sons and two daughters. After the marriage of the two daughters , Ramsio, Phulmani and their four sons had to suffer a lot because of loan burden. Ramsio’s two sons Birju Rana (22) and Raju Rana (20) had decided to go to Goa to work there as bonded labour two years ago.
After reaching there, they had been engaged there to work in fish catching boat. Birju and Raju were sending money to their elderly poor parents and for the studies of two younger brothers. On August 25, when Raju was catching fish from his boat at Goa, he had fallen in deep sea and had drowned. later, his body had been recovered about 50 km from the boat on which he was catching fish.
“I have got information about the death of this youth at Goa. I will go to his home and will see that his family members get all benefits under Government welfare schemes,” said Balishankara BDO RC Soren.
