Mayor Alok Sharma presents budget for financial year 2017-18

With a deficit of Rs 44 crore, Mayor Alok Sharma presented budget for the financial year 2017-18 on Thursday.

Sharma while presenting his third budget fond it difficult to present with the protesting Congress corporators, who were protesting ‘Smart City’. He said that along with the Old city area, planning for new city areas Govindpura, BHEl area, Kolar, Bairagarh and other areas have been done.

In this budget no provision of Mayor’s quota has been kept and funds have been sanctioned to corporators.

leader of opposition in BMC Mohammad Sagheer, Congress Corporators Girish Sharma, Amit Sharma alleged that this council of BJP is not concerned about development and this is visible in the budget.

Under the traffic planning two major traffic plans have been proposed in the budget for the year 2017-18. A fly over from Jawahar square to Banganga area and would end at Polytechnic Square and which could incurred a cost of Rs 62 crore. The second project would be at Boleward street in which 2.5 km road having width 45 m from Platinum plaza to Jawahar square and would incur a cost of Rs 90 crore.

The flyover would touch the smart road towards Depot square. Two grade separators would be made at Bhopal talkies square and 12 Dafatar areas.

Congress corporators protested against Smart City and raised slogans of ‘Smart City Dokha’. Using banners and posters Congress corporators registered their protest.

Development work would be completed in Kotra Sultanabad, link road number -1, link road number-2, MP Nagar, Shivaji Nagar areas.

Smart City has been proposed in South and North TT Nagar areas and to make it successful detailed planning has been done. Prayer Hall, park, road and beautification of Bairagarh area has been proposed in the budget.

In the budget instead of Mayor’s fund, corporators have to spend from their fund as no provision has been made for Mayor’s fund. Details of sanctioned money for the development works in wards were provided by Sharma.
