The accused patient who was absconding after killing a co-patient in the Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) was arrested and forwarded to court by police here on Monday.
The family members of the deceased are demanding compensation of Rs 10 lakh and a job for a member of the family and therefore the body of deceased is still in morgue house and police have not yet been able conduct the post mortem.
Sambunath Mundari (60), a native of Dharanidharpur village of Gurundia lock of the district, was a patient of tuberculosis and was admitted in bed no. 204 of infection ward of RGH. Similarly one Yadav Munda (26), a native of Orampara area of Rourkela city, had some infection in leg and was admitted in bed no. 206 of infection ward of RGH.
On Saturday night at about 3.30 am, both the Sambunath and Yadav reportedly had some heated exchange over some matter, following which in a fit of rage, Yadav had picked up an iron pipe, which was lying in that ward and had struck that on the head of Sambunath.
Sambunath was in pool of blood and had died on the spot. After the incident, Yadav had fled from the spot with the weapon of crime and his attendants in hospital had also fled. Sambunath’s younger brother later had lodged a FIR in Raghunathpalli police station and informed about the incident.
The Raghunathpalli police after registering a murder case had started searching accused Yadav. On Monday, Yadav was nabbed behind the morgue house of the RGH.
