A 56-year-old man who was reported to have died of snake bite on Tuesday was found murdered by strangulation at Kotra Sultanabad under Kamla Nagar police station area; deceased’s wife provided incorrect information to police regarding the death of her husband is prime suspect in the murder.
The deceased Suresh Singh was rushed to Hamidia hospital by his wife in the early morning hours where he was declared dead.
His wife Seema Singh told the doctors and police that the deceased died of snake bite but later the truth was revealed.
According to SHO of Kamla Nagar police station, Ashish Bhattacharya the deceased hailed from Unnao in Uttar Pradesh and used to live in a rented accommodation in Kotra near Kamla Nagar police station.
The deceased was posted as lab assistant in Food Corporation of India (FCI) Regional Office and used to live alone in Kotra area.
His son who is pursuing engineering from Jabalpur and wife lives in Jabalpur. She used to visit the deceased frequently for the past one month she was stating with the deceased and on Wednesday claimed that deceased on his return to house claimed that she was bitten by snake.
Deceased’s husband Seema told the police that on Tuesday early morning her husband left for office but soon returned after to switch off the lights and told that he was bitten by snake.
After the death of the deceased a case under section 174 of the CrPC was registered but after the post mortem report was received it was found that the deceased was strangulated and a case of murder was registered later in the investigation.
Body was sent for the post mortem after the preliminary investigation.
The police have registered a case under section 302 of the IPC and have started further investigation.
