Man beaten to death in Ramgarh

Friday, 30 June 2017 | PNS | Ranchi

In yet another suspected case of mob lynching within three days, a man accused of carrying banned meat was beaten to death on Thursday in Ramgarh. Police said that Alimuddin, aka Asgar Ansari, allegedly carrying banned meat in a Maruti Van was forcibly stopped by a group near Bajartand village and attacked him. His van was also torched later.

Inspector General (Headquarters) and State Police Spokesperson Ashish Batra said the incident took place around 10 am on Thursday, after which Ansari was brought to RIMS in Ranchi where he was declared dead. “He was a history sheeter, charged with abduction and murder of a child,” said Batra. However, he didn’t say how an accused of kidnapping and murder, Ansari, was roaming freely. Notably, a dairy owner was critically wounded and his house was set on fire in Bariabad of Giridih by a mob on Tuesday this week.
