As many as 67 families residing at Kujrum in tiger reserve Palamu on their exit from there will be resettled at Patthall Chatti and Ghorahi in Polpol in Palamu if all formalities are met with.
A Gram Sabha was held at Dhamdhamwa in Polpol on Friday where in the villagers expressed their consent to the resettlement of these 67 families there except two villagers one a ward member Meena Devi and the other villager Suresh Chowdhury who in the Friday Gram Sabha said that they would not give their land under their ‘kabja’ said the Polpol Panchayat Sachiv Prem Chand Chourasiya.
Chourasiya further said that these 67 families coming over here will get one acre of land for agriculture and 13 decimal of land for building their homes.
Civil society activist Kishore Kumar Pandey said giving one acre for agriculture in Palamu is not enough for livelihood as agriculture here is too difficult for reasons of poor irrigational facility. Pandey said that those who are going to be resettled here should be first given skill training as this will help them in the long run.
The resettlement location is in semi urban areas and re settlers if they have skill training can earn a good living asserted Pandey. Pandey however expressed satisfaction over giving 13 decimal of land for house construction. A total of 565 JJ land ( jungle jharee) will be used for resettling 67 families of Kujrum said Chourasiya.
Ameet Kumar DC Palamu said, “Once we are given in writing that Gram Sabha has okayed the resettlement of families here then only the administration will issue NoC .”The DC further said there were held two more Gram Sabhas in the past over this issue but their proceedings were found wanting. He said, “I am waiting for the result of the Friday Gram Sabha held there in Polpol’s Dhamdhamwa.”
Sources said the issue will then go into block level van adhikar samiti to sub divisional level van adhikar samiti and finally to zila samiti whose chairman is DC.
