The dance form of 17th century left the audience spell bound during a cultural event.
The art of Kathakali was splendidly performed at Shaheed Bhavan Auditorium on Tuesday. The performance was presented by the students of Madhya Pradesh School of Drama (MPSD).
The students presented 'Rasa Vikramamm' Kathakali dance drama before the theatre buffs of the city.
The event was organised under the class presentation of the students of batch 2016-17. It was directed by Prashobh from Kalamandalam Kerala.
Kathakali is one of the major forms of classical Indian dance. With heavy masks and eye catching expressions the dance is performed. The students of MPSD beautifully presnted the dance form with perfect dance moves expressions and scintillating footwork.
It is to be noted that Kathakali is a story play genre of art but one distinguished by the elaborately colourful makeup, costumes, face masks. The presentation was performed after a monthlong training workshop by Prashobh. The rigorous practice and hardwork of the students was clearly seen the presentation on stage.
As many as 25 students were a part of the class presentation. The colourful costumes and the light design added much zest in the show. Director od MPSD Sanjay Upadhyay was also present on the occasion.
The Bhopal art lovers were totally astonished with the beautiful performance on stage.
