A sensitisation programme for mediapersons on the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act 2015 (JJ Act) was organised by the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) here recently.
Additional District Magistrate Saran Kumar Jena inaugurated the programme in presence of District Child Welfare Committee chairperson Dr Raghunath Jena, Deputy Superintendent Police JJ Act Bamadev Singh, district child protection officer Kahnu Charan Rout, ADPRO Kamini Patnaik and Dr Pramod Kumar Acharya, a faculty from the National law University as resource person, besides mediapersons.
Resource person Dr Acharya held an elaborate discussion on JJ Act 2015 and role of media dealing with children in conflict with law. He also informed at the programme that media has a preventive and protective role in implementing the JJ Act, from rescue of child to its rehabilitation. He requested scribes to be cautious disclosing the victim identity in public. The pre-launch session of the programme was followed by open house discussion between resource person and media representatives. Jagannath Mishra proposed a vote of thanks.
