ITC and BAIF selected 15 Goushalas and 150 villages in vicinity of Goushalas

ITC and BAIF (Bharatiya Agro Industries Foundation) have selected 15 Goushalas and 150 villages in the vicinity of Goushalas in Indore, Ujjain and Sehore for conservation of indigenous cows’ breed. Programme was inaugurated in the auditorium of Animal Husbandry department on Thursday.

Main objective of the programme is to make the unproductive cows productive beside their conservation, conservation of indigenous cow breed and to conserve high breed indigenous cow breed developing goushalas as germ plasma and resource center, improvement in breed through breeding with indigenous dudharu-giri and Sahival etc. and to increase the numbers of indigenous milking cows keeping in account the insufficient available resources beside climate change.

Chief Scientist National Dairy Research Institute Haryana DK Sadana through 10 P Model and Programme Director BAIF Pune Dr. Alok Juneja informed about the successful cow breed conservation techniques prevalent in the country and abroad. Dr. Juneja informed that with new technique conception can be discovered on 18th day of gestation.

Good care can lead to a birth of a healthy calf. Joint Director Animal Husbandry Mahaiyya informed about schemes of Madhya Pradesh Government for conservation of indigenous cow breed. Farmers Rajaram and Gajendra Singh who were conferred recently with Gopal Award by Madhya Pradesh Government for increasing milk production through Gir indigenous cow raised by BAIF shared their experiences under the ‘Mission Sunehra Kal’ project of ITC in the programme. They also informed about bio-fertiliser and various medicines produced from the cow urine.

Swami Vidhyanand of Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan-Punjab, Regional Manager ITC Girish Mohan, Members of selected Goushalas Management Committees, Technical Officers of BAIF, RGM, NRlM, RTC and Officers of various institutions were present in the programme. Chief Programme Coordinator BAIF SK Pandeya gave vote of thanks.
