After being released from Patiala jail on Monday, leader of Opposition and INlD’s senior leader Abhay Singh Chautala along with his party members reached Chandigarh to attend the House proceedings on Monday.
Ahead of the Assembly Session, Abhay Chautala while talking to the mediapersons announced that the party will gherao the Parliament on March 15 and will also protest at Jantar Mantar in the national Capital on the same day on SYl issue.
He said the INlD will wait till March 15 for Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar to take an all-party delegation from Haryana to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the SYl canal issue.
“If he (Khattar) fails to get the appointment, the INlD will protest outside Parliament to raise the issue,” Chautala said.
The party will continue its fight for the SYl canal issue till Haryana gets its due share of water from Punjab, said the INlD leader.
Attacking the BJP led Haryana Government, he said that the State Government is not interested in bringing SYl water to Haryana as the party workers were also stopped by Haryana Police on February 23 at March when they were marching towards Punjab for digging of SYl.
The party will seek t answers from the BJP Government on SYl canal issue in the State Assembly, he added.
Two MPs, 18 legislators and 73 other INlD leaders were arrested by the Punjab Police and were later sent to judicial custody till February 27 by a court in Rajpura and lodged in Patiala jail.
They were arrested for breaching prohibitory orders on last Thursday when they were marching towards Punjab to undertake the digging of the SYl canal. The SYl is a proposed 214-km long canal to connect Sutlej and Yamuna rivers.
