India-China border dispute can be resolved through dialogue: Rajnath

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that at present there is no major border standoff between the armies of India and China. The India-China border dispute can be resolved through a "structural dialogue" and a positive approach, Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday.

He said this while talking to the mediapersons during his visit to the Mana Border Out Post (BOP) of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Force near Badrinath in the Chamoli district on Friday.

Apart from meeting the ITBP officers, he also offered his prayers during the evening Arti in the Badrinath shrine. Arriving in Chamoli from Mussoorie, Singh had tea and snacks with the ITBP jawans at Mana. He asked the jawans about their issues while also presented them Rs one lakh for the Bada Khana and one lED television for their recreational time.

According to sources, the ITBP jawans stated that they were not facing any problem, stressing that they would remain diligent in the service of the nation under any circumstance. The Border Security Force helicopter carrying the Union Home Minister landed at the Army helipad at Badrinath around 2:20 pm on Friday. He was given a guard of honour at the helipad by the police. At the helipad itself, members of the the ITBP women commando unit displayed various maneuvers for the Union Home Minister. Singh met the women personnel and appreciated them for joining the forces in the service of the nation. From the helipad, the Union Home Minister directly went to the ITBP BOP at Mana near the Indo-Tibet border region. Singh spent about one hour with the jawans and officers of the force on the occasion.

Interacting with the jawans, Rajnath Singh said that the Government of India is working to make the Indian armed forces high tech and enhance resources available to them. The personnel will be provided better and lighter clothes, he said. Wishing the jawans in advance for the occasions of Dussehra and Deepawali, he said that he had chosen to visit the border area during Dussehra as the armed forces personnel remain here to protect the national borders away from their families.

Singh said that he wanted to come hear a year ago too but had not been able to do so at that time. He said that the nation was proud of its armed forces which were committed to the security of the nation.

He stressed that the Government is also eager to resolve all the issues faced by the Army men. later, talking to the mediapersons on the occasion, Singh said that presently there was no major border disturbance between India and China at present. The Doklam stand-off has been resolved after talks between the two nations. The situation in the Indo-China border region in Chamoli is normal, he added.
