Houses of poor should not be snatched: Cong

The main opposition Congress in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly demanded that houses of poor should not be snatched due to the Government’s negligence in Prime Minister Housing Scheme.

leader of opposition in state assembly Ajay Singh in a statement here on Thursday said, “The action of demolishing raw houses of poor to provide five lakh new houses has become an act of terror. After providing houses now the proceedings of recovery is being carried out from the houseless villagers after snatching their houses.”

Singh making base of 13 points including motorcycles demanded to stop the cancellation of house allotments immediately.   During the last six months the Panchayat and Rural Development Department (P&RDD) in order to provide houses to five lakh villagers this year made selection on the basis of priority from houseless families having shanties and raw houses at Panchayat level.  The selection was done on the basis of 2011 census for caste, economical and social status, he added.

He said that the eligible poor’s list was provided to the state government by the P&RDD. Based on this list and priority of class Gram Sabhas approved five lakh families from the SECC list. The P&RDD Principal Secretary Radheshyam Julania through weekly video conferencing made selection of five lakh rural families and by demolishing the shantiesof about three lakh families got the sanction of Rs 4500 crore from CEO Jila Panchayat for construction of house worth Rs 1.5 lakh. On December 28, 2016 lakhs of beneficiaries were provided allotment letters in Dhar amid presence of chief minister  besides the programs organized at all district headquarters and the first installment of Rs 40, 000 was also paid, he added.

He said that dreaming concrete houses three lakh families started construction of new houses by demolishing their raw houses. In March 2017 Julania issued instructions to cancel the allotment of all those poor families who posse’s motorcycle or any other vehicle, who own 2.5 acres of irrigated land, poses telephone and agricultural equipments. In all 13 points were made for disqualification, he added.

He said that this is atrocity and hence this should be immediately stopped and cancellation of allotment should be revoked.
