Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Wednesday demanded dismissal of Manohar lal Khattar Government and imposition of President’s rule in the State in the wake of violence in Panchkula after court’s verdict against dera sect chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim.
“Either the State Government should quit on its own or the Centre should dismiss it and impose President's rule in the state, said Hooda while talking to the mediapersons.
There is a complete breakdown of law and order in Haryana and people have lost faith in this government. This is the third failure of BJP led Haryana Government after Jat agitation and Rampal’s episode, said the former Chief Minister.
Hooda said that if the Khattar government is not removed, the Congress would take to the streets and go to the people who will throw this government out.
He also slammed Manohar lal for not coordinating with his Punjab counterpart Captain Amarinder Singh to stop entry of dera followers to Panchkula from the neighboring state. While Amarinder was on the ground, Khattar was holding special meetings, he alleged.
Dismissing the Haryana Government’s submission before the Punjab and Haryana High Court that the build-up of dera supporters was allowed at Panchkula under a strategy to ensure dera chief's presence at CBI court on August 25, Hooda said that it is an afterthought alibi.
On the allegations that his Congress Government was also associated with dera sect chief and provided 'Z' plus security to him, the two-time former CM said that the 'Z' plus security was provided by the Centre after an attack on him.
He further claimed to have no association with godman Ram Rahim and not visiting his sect headquarters during his ten years tenure as Chief Minister in Haryana.
Hooda had visited Panchkula on Wednesday morning to meet the residents and to take stock of the situation after August 25 violence.
A day before, Indian National lok Dal, Haryana’s main opposition party had submitted a memorandum to Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki demanding dismissal of Manohar lal Government in the state in the wake of violence in Panchkula on last Friday.
