The life of a youth takes a turn when he or she is unable to distinguish between the traditions around. When they are unable to find peace in family and friends just because of generation-gap, ‘Ghutan’ happens.
A Hindi play ‘Ghutan’ was performed here on Thursday at Shaheed Bhavan Auditorium. The play was staged marking the first day of a two day theatre festival.
Directed by Priyesh Pal, the play is written by Ansh Payan Sinha. The play was beautifully performed by the artists of Trikarshi theatre troupe, Bhopal.
Khushi is a fun loving and happy go lucky girl. But, she gets stuck in life when she is unable to differentiate between what she thinks and what her parents say. The entire play focused on youngsters and how they wish to share their feelings with their parents.
Khushi, the protagonist of the play, narrates the ups and downs of her life.
The play follows the stories of other characters that are inter-connected with the story of Khushi. The youngsters question their parents and elders of the family about why the society creates complications.
Khushi when decides to get married to the boy of her choice, things starts to change drastically. The love marriage is ‘unethical’ according to the society, her family and relatives.
This was the time, when she is unable to take a proper decision. She cannot talk to her parents about it. She suffocates inside, taking a decision that turns the entire story upside down.
The director of the play, Priyesh Pal said, “I just had one motive in staging this play. When we are open to so many new things then why not a love marriageIJ Parents should talk to their children despite the generation gap.”
