A Hindi film ‘Dosti’ was screened at Madhya Pradesh State Tribal Museum on Thursday. The movie was screened under the regular series ‘Ulhas’ organised specially for children.
Dosti is a 1964 Indian black-and-white Hindi film directed by Satyen Bose and produced by Tarachand Barjatya under his Rajshri Productions banner. Sushil Kumar and Sudhir Kumar are seen n the pivotal roles.
Man's life is incomplete without love and friendship. Dosti is the story of two teenage boys; orphan and lame, Ramu (Sushil Kumar) and blind young man, Mohan (Sudhir Kumar) drawn together by fate and friendship, which is both heart-warming and inspiring.
With all the handicaps, trials and tribulations the bond of friendship keeps the faith and the trust of humanity alive. It had the great message of friendship and goodwill amongst people as never before shown on the Indian screen.
After the bad incidents happened to his family, Ramu is injured in an accident and he becomes crippled. Thrown out of his home, crippled and penniless, he roams around the streets of Mumbai and comes across Mohan, a boy who is blind and has a similar tale of woe.
Ramu is good at playing the harmonica, while Mohan is a good singer. They team up and sing songs on the roadside and start earning money from passers-by. Ramu wants to finish his studies, and both of them befriend a small girl, Manjula (Baby Manjula suffers from Rheumatoid Heart Disease and both the boys hope she would help them out.
But the destiny stored something else for them. What happened next was worthwhile watching. It was Sanjay Khan's debut film.
Dosti was amongst the top 10 grossers of 1964 and was declared a Super Hit at the box office. It was entered into the 4th Moscow International Film Festival.
