In a decision in the interest of below poverty line (BPl) as well as Antyodaya Anna Yojna (AAY) families in the state, the Haryana Government has announced to provide one kilogram sugar at the rate of Rs 13 per kilogram every month to about 11.31 lakh BPl families including the AAY families.
In addition, each of these families would also be provided one liter mustard oil of Hafed at the rate of Rs 20 per liter every month. These decisions would be applicable with effect from January 1, 2018. These and several other decisions were taken in a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Manohar lal here on Tuesday, said an official spokesman.
He said that at present, one kilogram sugar was being provided to about 2.63 lakh AAY families in the sate. With today’s decision 8.68 lakh BPl families would also start getting one kilogram sugar.
The beneficiary families would get the sugar and mustard oil at the rate of Rs 13 per kg and Rs 20 per kg respectively whereas the remaining amount would be borne by the State Government as subsidy, said the spokesman. During the meeting, the State Government has decided that a regulation would be brought to ensure that only packed fortified mustard oil is sold in the market.
It has also been decided that fortified wheat flour enriched with essential vitamins and minerals would be provided in two blocks namely Brara and Naraingarh of district Ambala in the first phase under the Public Distribution System, Mid Day Meal scheme and the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) through Hafed Floor Mill, Taraori, district Karnal.
