Girls continue to dominate boys in class X and class XII results of Uttarakhand board. The Chairman of the Uttarakhand Vidhyalayi Shiksha Parishad (UVSP), R K Kunwar released the board result at Ramnagar on Tuesday. In class XII, 75.56 percent of boys cleared the examinations as compared with 82.07 percent of girls; the overall pass percentage in class XII was 78.89. In class X also the girls with a pass percentage of 78.51 percent were way ahead of boys who had a pass percentage of 68.76 percent only.
In class X, Aisha of Vijay Nagar, Rudraprayag district topped the merit with 98.4 percent marks. She scored 492 marks out of 500 while in class XII, Aditya Ghildiyal of Srikot Gangnani, Pauri district got 95 percent marks to secure first rank. (see box for merit lists)
The topper of class X, Aisha, daughter of Yashwant Singh Rawat and Pushpa Rawat of Vijaynagar, a small town of Rudraprayag district said that she wants to become an engineer and serve the country. She attributed her success to the guidance of her teachers and support given of her parents.
Releasing the results, the board Chairman, R K Kunwar said that in class X, a total of 153814 candidates were registered out of which 150573 students appeared in the examination. He further informed that 133413 candidates were registered for class XII examination out of which 131190 appeared in the examination. Kunwar said that it is a good sign that the pass percentage of Uttarakhand board is increasing.
The board secretary V P Simalti expressed his gratitude for teachers and employees of UVSP for successfully accomplishing the task assigned to them.
Chief Minister announces laptops for meritorious students.
The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Trivendra Singh Rawat has congratulated the students for their performance in the board examinations. He declared that the state government would distribute laptops to all the students who secured first five ranks in the board examinations.
Uttarakhand Board shows improvement in pass percentage.
Uttarakhand board which used to be stingy while awarding marks to the students is turning magnanimous as the pass percentage of both class X and XII is showing a steady improvement in past few years.
In class X, the pass percentage in the year 2014 was 67.40 percent which improved to 70.68 in the year 2015. last year 73.43 percent cleared the examination while the pass percentage this year stands at 73.67 percent which is fractionally higher than last year.
A similar trend is also visible in the results of class XII. In the year 2014, the pass percentage of students was 70.39 percent which jumped to, 74.54 percent in the year 2015. The class XII results further improved to 78.41 percent in the year 2016. This year also the pass percentage improved marginally as 78.89 percent students cleared the examination. The Additional Director, Secondary education B S Negi attributed the regular increase in pass percentage to the hard work of the teachers and the students. He said that the gap between pass percentage of Uttarakhand board and boards like CBSE and ICSE is decreasing which indeed is a good sign.
