The administration of the associated hospital of Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) here has sent a proposal for installation of a new CT scan machine. The only CT scan of the hospital has been non operational from last two months.
The radiology department of the hospital was demanding installation of the latest Dual Energy based CT scan machine with a capability of 128 slices. The department of Neurosurgery here has also requested for this latest machine as it will help them in better and speedy diagnosis.
The Medical Superintendent (MS) of the hospital Dr KK Tamta said that the hospital has requested for installation of the latest machine as per the requirement of the Medical Council of India (MCI). He said that the old machine would also be repaired and both machines would be used.
However patients continue to suffer from non availability of the important radio diagnostic machine of the biggest hospital of the State. Recently the accident victims of Chakrata were also asked to get the CT done from outside.
The machine is non operational from 14 December last year due to which the patients are forced to cough out extra money to get the scan done from private centres. These centers always make merry whenever CT or MRI machine of associated hospital of GDMC develop a snag.
The private centres charge `4000-5000 for CT scan while in Doon hospital the fee is only `1500. Moreover the hospital conducts free CT for the BPl patients and those covered under the Mukhyamtri Swasthya Bima Yojna (MSBY).
