Function to mark death anniversary of 10th Sikh Guru to be held in Sirsa on Sept 17

Haryana Government has announced that the concluding function to mark the 350th birth anniversary of tenth Sikh Guru Gobind Singh would be held in Sirsa on September 17, 2017.

The Chief Minister Manohar lal said this while speaking at a felicitation function organized to honour the prominent personalities of Sikh Community who have made significant contribution in the successful organization of Samagam to mark the 350th birth anniversary of tenth Sikh Guru at Karnal on February 12, 2017.

The Chief Minister said that the programme organized at Karnal had a massive participation of about 1.25 lakh people who overwhelmingly participated in the celebrations. He said that it was for the first time that a programme at such a grand scale had been organized in the state in the memory of the tenth Sikh Guru and added that such   functions should be organized on regular basis so as to acquaint our young generation with the sacrifices made by our saints and gurus.

He also urged the members of the Sikh community that besides organising religious discourses, they should also work actively for the welfare of people and help the needy and the poor.

The Chief Minister also urged them to give impetus to the Swachta Abhiyan of the Government by ensuring cleanliness in every street, and village   through community participation. He said that the State Government is also implementing a scheme of providing sewerage system in big villages of the State.

Manohar lal also exhorted them to adopt villages so as to ensure holistic development of villages.

He said that the State Government has implemented Swa-Prerit Adarsh Gram Yojana under which they could opt villages of their choice and also identify work to be undertaken by them. He assured them of all support and cooperation of the State Government in this process.

Earlier, the Chief Minister was presented with a sword as a mark of respect.

 The Chief Minister felicitated prominent personalities of the Sikh community by presenting them with Seropas, mementoes and citation.
