Fodder scam: Former RJD MlA testifies in Special CBI Court

Friday, 30 June 2017 | PNS | Ranchi

Rashtriya Janata Dal Chief lalu Prasad Yadav on Thursday appeared before Special CBI Court of Shivpal Singh in Fodder Scam case RC64A/96 related to fraudulent withdrawal from Deoghar treasury where witnesses produced by him were being examined by the prosecution.

Former Jharkhand Minister and the then MlA of Bihar Assembly Suresh Paswan, one of the 36 witnesses produced by Prasad, was examined by Special Public Prosecutor of CBI BMP Sinha on Thursday.

“The MlA was asked about the proceedings in Bihar Vidhan Sabha of which he was a member during 1995-2000. He was asked what happened there in case the person raising questions was not present in the Assembly on the date fixed for questioning,” said Prasad’s advocate Prabhat Kumar. Paswan replied the question itself gets invalid in such situation, he added.

Notably, one of the witnesses produced by the CBI had said that Prasad had all the knowledge about the irregularities in the Animal Husbandry Department thorough the questions raised in the Assembly as their answer was sent to the House.

“While, another witness produced by the CBI had admitted that the MlAs putting the question in the Assembly used to remain absent in the Assembly due to which the question was not raised in the House,” the advocate said.  If questions were not raised in the House, how the Chief Minister would know about the irregularities being practiced in the department,” said the Advocate.
