Cyber crime police have nabbed a software engineer for creating website having similar name of tourism department and duped 1200 tourist to the tune of Rs 10 lakh; accused made booking of Rs 38 lakh through regional marketing offices of MP Tourism at Pune, Indore and Nagpur.

The cyber crime found from the domain registrar that the similar websites to cheat victims was operated by Narsingh Chouhan of Khandwa.

The websites which were used in the fraud were www.hanumantiatapu.com and www. sailanitapu.com. The accused used to present his created websites as officials websites and would book hotel or tent facility at Hanumantia Tapu and Sailani Tapu Khandwa and would later book the same reservation through regional offices at Pune, Indore and Nagpur and in this booking he would get a discount of 10- 30 per cent which the tourist were not aware. He used to provide bills in the name of his websites.

Police found that from October 29, 2016 to November 21, 2017 the accused had made 340 booking for 1200 tourist and a booking of Rs 3831792 was made by the accused and as a discount he earned Rs 10 lakh from the tourism department which is the amount of the tourist who have booked for visiting the tourist places.

The accused had not provided any contact details in the websites to evade arrest. The accused is a resident of Khandwa and works with a multinational company in Pune.

The accused was accepting booking in the name of regional office of tourism and would book rooms through regional marketing offices of Madhya Pradesh Toursim in Pune, Indore and Nagpur.
