Employees hail no-Nalco divestment

Friday, 30 June 2017 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

The Nalco Employees’ Forum on Thursday welcomed the Central Government’s decision ruling out its proposal of disinvestment from the Nalco.

Recently, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had written a letter to Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi requesting him to withdraw the proposal of disinvestment from the Central PSU.

The Chief Minister had argued that the expansion of the company would be affected in event of its equities being disinvested.

The Central Government on Wednesday announced that no disinvestment of the Nalco would be carried out.

The forum has expressed their gratitude to the Prime Minister, the Chief Minister and the Union Minister of Steel and Mines for the decision.

Forum president Madan Mohan Dhal and general secretary PK Das requested the Central and State Governments to expedite the allotment of bauxite mines at Patangi and D and E Coal blocks in Angul district to the company. They too demanded that the obsolete machineries in the PSU’s power and smelter plants be replaced soon.
