The DAV School of Business Management (DSBM) here organised a meeting to mark the National Statistics Day on Thursday. The event was attended by Prof Dr.Gopabandhu Mishra, who not only explained about the importance of statistics in day-to-day life but also highlighted the contributions of the great Indian scientist and Applied Statistician late Prof Prashant Chandra Mahalanobis whose birth anniversary is observed as the National Statistics Day. He also informed that India is the first country to observe a Statistics Day. He too enlightened on different statistical concepts from ancient to modern era. DSBM Principal Dr DN Mishra stated, “We have to embed statistical tools for big-data analytics in the knowledge domain to contribute towards growth of the education society.” The event was coordinated by Sudhanshu Sekhar Sahoo, Faculty in Mathematics and Statistics.
